Zero draft angle welded refiner plates with ultra-fine bar widths from 0.8mm, available in SS-301 and SS-17-4 metallurgies for precision refining applications.
Parason Finedge Welded Bar Refiner Plates are manufactured using special casting and robotic welding CNC technology, delivering maximum uniformity across the refining zone. The zero draft angle on each bar provides higher bar height and longer plate life compared to conventional designs.
The precision laser and welding manufacturing process minimizes groove width variations, enabling finer bar widths for low-intensity refining applications. Available in Curved Bar, Segmental, and Full Circle / Under Hung configurations.

Parason manufactures welded refiner plates, tackles, and tri-cones with adequate rib height for extended disc life and throughput. The robotic welding CNC process ensures consistent bar placement and groove width across every plate.
Zero Draft Angle: Higher bar height with zero taper maintains hydraulic uniformity and cutting edge length throughout the plate's entire service life.
Zero Draft Angle: Unlike conventional cast plates where bars taper with depth, Finedge welded bars maintain full width from tip to root. This delivers higher effective bar height, longer cutting edge life, and consistent hydraulic capacity throughout the plate's service life.
Narrow Bar Precision: Available from 0.8mm to 5.0mm bar width, with high Cutting Edge Length (CEL) and low Specific Edge Load (SEL). This enables gentle fibrillation without excessive fibre shortening — ideal for hardwood, softwood, and recycled fibre applications.
Advanced Metallurgy: SS-304 base with SS-301 high-hardness ribs or SS-17-4 precipitated hardened ribs, plus specialised AWT treatment for maximum wear resistance and extended service intervals.
Fibre Strength Development: The combination of narrow bars and zero draft angle produces consistent fibrillation that develops inter-fibre bonding strength without cutting fibres. Mills report measurable improvements in tensile, burst, and tear indices.
Energy Reduction: Low SEL refining with Finedge plates reduces specific energy consumption per tonne. The higher throughput capacity means fewer refiner passes are needed to achieve target freeness, compounding energy savings.
Raw Material Optimization: Better fibre development means mills can achieve target paper properties with lower-cost furnish or reduced chemical additives, directly impacting per-tonne production costs.
